A gritty game of murder & mystery

The Flower Collectors was inspired by the 1950s mystery thriller "Rear Window." It tells the story of a murder mystery through the eyes of a wheelchair-bound character. Developer Mi'pu'mi Games sets the plot of this game in 1977’s Barcelona, at a time of political turmoil.

This point-and-click game resembles Agatha Christie- ABC Murders and Tangle Tower, as two sleuths try to find clues and advance in their investigation by reshuffling pieces of evidence.

What’s it about?

As Jorge, a wheelchair-bound retired policeman, the player witnesses a murder and then befriends journalist Melinda, whom he directs to talk to witnesses and listen in on conversations. Armed with only a camera and binoculars, Jorge pieces together the answer, identifying the hitman and the politician who placed the hit.

What’s special about it?

The main character of this 3D detective game is a flawed individual who raves about females and homeless people. There are plenty of other flawed but colorful characters — all anthropomorphic — such as chess-loving priests, cabaret singers, assassins, bouncers, waiters, and nosy old ladies. The post-Franco setting is unique, and the atmosphere is tense.

Who can play it?

This short detective game is available on Windows, Switch, and Steam. PC users can easily control movement in this point-and-click game with WASD keys and a mouse or take photos with their space bar. The player can draft their hypothesis and set up event chronology by matching photos or sketches and placing objects with drag-and-drop motion.

A wistful whodunnit game

With The Flower Collectors, players swap action for sleuthing. It’s a brief incursion into politics with notes of treachery and deceit. Here, muffled jazz tunes, neon-lit cabarets, sheets flapping in the wind, and light going dark at sundown follow the protagonist’s thought process and his realization that his beliefs were flawed and his friends unreliable.
